Currently, Dr. Edmondson is the Associate Provost for Continued Learning at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)

 

The Princeton Review's Best Colleges for 2024 included NJIT as one of “The Best 389 Colleges for 2024.” Just 14% of all of the country’s four-year institutions made the guide. Forbes ranks NJIT the No. 1 public university in New Jersey and No. 28 in the nation.

The Associate Provost for Continued Learning
• Establishes a bold and comprehensive vision for non-degree program education and its role to position NJIT as the place sought out by organizations and professionals to stay tech-relevant for their entire career.
• Advises NJIT's senior leadership on the implications of the latest external trends in continued learning from a societal, technological, and regulatory perspective.
• Collaborates with NJII, which is a conduit to corporate partnerships, to understand corporate needs and to develop and deliver customized corporate training offerings.
• Works closely with the Academic Deans and Enrollment Management to understand current strengths and to align with and support their objectives.

Dr. Michael Edmondson has over 30 years of professional experience in for-profit and non-profit organizations. Most recently, Dr. Edmondson held three concurrent positions at New Jersey City University (NJCU): Dean, Professional Education and Lifelong Learning, Dean, College of Professional Studies, and Founding Campus Director of NJCU @ Fort Monmouth. 

Due to his outstanding contributions to Monmouth County while serving as the Campus Director of NJCU @ Fort Monmouth, the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce presented Dr. Edmondson with its 2022 Distinguished Leadership Award. Additionally, due to his work with minority entrepreneurs, The Philadelphia Empowerment Group presented him with its Entrepreneurship Inspiration Award.

Throughout his career, Dr. Edmondson has taught at the community college, undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught history at Camden County College and Ocean County College, history, and political science at the undergraduate level at Cabrini College, entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level at Drexel University, various undergraduate liberal arts courses at Thomas Edison State University, strategic business communications at the graduate level at Rider University, and non-profit leadership at the graduate level at Drexel University.

Dr. Edmondson was selected to participate in and completed the 2021 AGB Institute for Leadership & Governance in Higher Education and the 2014 Council of Independent Colleges Senior Leadership Academy. Both programs are designed for administrators and Deans who aspire to senior leadership positions.

Due to his expertise with organizational development and significant publishing record, Business Experts Press also appointed Dr. Edmondson to serve as the Co-Editor of its Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior Collection.

Dr. Edmondson has presented at local, state, and national level conferences on a number of issues related to the state of higher education, student success, and academic programming in today’s dynamic and ever-changing global marketplace. 

As a first-generation college graduate from Philadelphia, Dr. Edmondson graduated from Cabrini College with a BA in History, Villanova University with an MA in History, and Temple University with a PhD in History.
